Dr. Eric J. Becoats

I'm Dr. Eric J. Becoats, a superintendent with more than two decades doing the work I now help others do: turning around struggling schools, building strategic plans that get executed, and developing the leaders who carry them out.

I pair an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with a graduate degree in finance, a rare combination that lets me speak fluently to both instruction and the budget realities every district faces. I don't coach from theory. I coach from experience, because I have sat in the seat.

How I work

The Four E's

A simple, disciplined arc that takes a leader or a system from a baseline to an executed result.

01

Establish

I meet you where you are, understand the end goal, and set an honest baseline.

02

Emphasize

I set specific, measurable targets and the priorities that will actually move them.

03

Engage

I work alongside you through ongoing sessions that build real capacity.

04

Execute

I stay in it with you until the result is delivered, not just planned.

What I value

People. Time. Resources.

People

Your people are your strategy. I invest in the leaders who move your system.

Time

Your calendar is your scarcest resource. I protect it with tight, milestone-driven work.

Resources

I build your team's capacity. I do not create dependence on mine.

Questions leaders ask first

What working together actually looks like.

How fast do we see results?

Most engagements show visible movement, sharper decisions, a real entry plan, first accountability data, within the first 60 to 90 days. Durable, system-wide results (turnaround gains, executed strategic plans) typically play out over one to three years, the same horizon as the results on this site.

Do you work with my whole cabinet, or just me?

Both, depending on the engagement. Executive coaching is one-to-one and confidential. Strategic planning and leadership team development bring your cabinet or leadership team directly into the work, since a plan only moves if the people around you own it too.

What if my board wants a different approach?

I build every strategic plan and entry process around your board's priorities and your community's context from day one, not as an afterthought. Board-ready means board-involved.

Do you only work with K-12 districts?

K-12 districts are the core of the work, and the same turnaround and strategic-execution playbook applies to higher-ed leaders and mission-driven education nonprofits facing similar accountability pressure.

What's the first step?

A direct conversation about your district and what you're trying to move, no obligation. Reach out through the contact page and I'll take it from there.

I exist to serve

Leaders who serve students.

The whole point is the students on the other end of every decision.
